DIY: Silky Smooth Lotion Bars

Hello everyone! Today I’ve got a fun DIY recipe for anyone who likes having soft, smooth skin without spending a lot of money or using toxic store-bought products. These lotion bars take minutes to throw together, you can use almost any essential oil combo you like, and there are no crazy synthetic ingredients. #triplewin

DIY Lotion Bars WHITE

Beside the ingredients, you’ll just need a medium-sized pot, something to stir with, and silicone molds to pour the melted mixture into. The bars set within a few hours, and make perfect baby shower gifts, bride-to-be gifts, or Christmas gifts. My 2 yr. old daughter loves using her special lotion bar – although she sometimes tries to use it like soap under running water, which is not how these work. LOL.

Ingredients

⅔ cup beeswax (small pellets are much easier to work with than the blocks that need grating!)
½ cup coconut oil
1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
15-20 drops of essential oil
Quick oats (optional) to add to bottom of silicone molds before pouring lotion mix, to make exfoliating bars

Directions

In a glass measuring cup or bowl, combine all ingredients except essential oils. If using the stove, place measuring cup into pot with a small amount of simmering water. Stir occasionally as ingredients melt to thoroughly mix them. When everything is completely melted, remove from heat. After 3 minutes, add essential oils and stir well (I stir with chopsticks – if they’re the disposable kind, that’s one less thing to worry about cleaning). Pour into silicone molds and let harden for about 2-3 hours. Store in a mason jar, or place in a cellophane gift bag with cute ribbon for gift-giving.

When you’re ready to use, rub lotion bar anywhere you have dry skin, while skin is dry (as in, not in the shower or bath). These bars are moisturizing, but not thick and greasy like lotions can be. Try these essential oil combos for healthy skin:
  • Lavender & Frankincense
  • Myrrh, Lavender, & Geranium
  • Juniper Berry & Lavender
  • Citrus Bliss blend
  • Peppermint & Lavender

And don’t forget Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint essential oils are FREE for just ONE MORE DAY (today)! Just order 160 PV (like $160) and your free essential oils will be added to your cart.

Do you currently make any of your own skin care products? Which ones?
